YouTube Analytics
How the read-only YouTube channel reports and optional website campaign links work in XPmetric.
YouTube Analytics is an account-level, read-only connection: one YouTube channel per XPmetric account, visible only to you. A YouTube channel can be connected without adding a website to XPmetric.
Connect one channel
Open Settings → Integrations. Before each connection or reconnection, accept the current XPmetric privacy notice and Terms and the YouTube Terms of Service, confirm that you have reviewed the Google Privacy Policy, and agree that XPmetric may access and use your Google data only as described under Google's API Services User Data Policy. This YouTube-specific acceptance is separate from the optional Google Analytics cookie choice for xpmetric.com.
XPmetric requests only the read-only scopes youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly. Google must return one channel that it can confirm for the account you authorize. XPmetric does not guess from a Google profile name or choose the first of several channels. If Google returns no unambiguous channel, the connection stops. There is no channel picker yet, so a Google account that manages several channels can't be connected. Pick the one channel on Google's account screen, for example the Brand Account that owns it.
What each permission is for:
| Permission | What XPmetric uses it for |
|---|---|
youtube.readonly | Identify the connected channel (its ID and name), and read the title and channel ID of the videos that appear in your reports so XPmetric can check they belong to your channel. YouTube also requires this permission for the Analytics report requests. |
yt-analytics.readonly | Request the four metrics above, as daily, 7-, 28- and 90-day reports. |
XPmetric never uploads, edits or deletes anything on YouTube, and does not read comments, playlists or revenue data. It uses YouTube data only for the features described on this page and follows Google's API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See the privacy policy for the full disclosure.
The connection is private to the XPmetric account owner. It does not appear in public dashboards or account exports, does not read who watched a video, and does not join YouTube viewers to your website visitors.
What the reports show
Daily channel reports and fixed 7-, 28- and 90-day periods use the four metrics YouTube returns:
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Views | Views reported by YouTube Analytics |
| Estimated minutes watched | Estimated watch time returned by YouTube Analytics |
| Subscribers gained | Provider-reported subscriber gains |
| Subscribers lost | Provider-reported subscriber losses |
Daily dates use YouTube's America/Los_Angeles reporting timezone. Website dashboards use their own date settings, so the two date windows can differ. Google may delay recent data or omit days. XPmetric labels the latest date Google actually returned and shows requested report coverage separately. A missing date, an empty report, and an observed zero are different states.
Each refresh requests at most the 90-day daily window and one YouTube-returned total and top-video report for each fixed period. The top-video lists display up to 20 available rows per period, not every video. A list can be partial and may not add up to its API-returned channel total. Subscriber gains and losses in a video row refer to that video's watch page; channel totals include the other channel surfaces too.
The connector refreshes daily. XPmetric marks saved reports stale when the last successful refresh is more than 36 hours old. You can queue Refresh reports from Settings → Integrations; requests are limited to one per 15 minutes. This asks the worker to refresh data. A dashboard status check only reads the last saved report.
Optional website campaign links
If you own an XPmetric website, you can link a currently confirmed video from a top-video report to that site and one exact utm_campaign value. For a video outside the top lists, paste its link under Link any video from your channel: XPmetric asks YouTube once to confirm the video belongs to your connected channel. Deleted videos, videos on another channel and videos YouTube does not return can't be linked. Each link's ownership check lasts 30 days; the daily refresh re-checks it during its last week. The link opens the site's existing campaign report filtered to utm_source=youtube and the campaign you selected. See UTM tracking for how website campaign values are collected.
These are XPmetric website pageviews, goals, or payments, shown separately from YouTube Analytics. The Site and campaign mapping stays in XPmetric and is not sent to Google. It does not count raw video-link clicks or show that a YouTube view caused a website visit or sale. You need to instrument the website and use the matching UTM campaign for website figures to exist. No owned website means there are no campaign-mapping options.
Reconnect, disconnect, and deletion
Reconnect if XPmetric reports that Google access or permissions need attention. Reconnecting records a fresh acceptance of the current connector privacy notice and starts a new authorization generation; campaign links from the earlier connection do not carry over.
Choose Disconnect in Settings → Integrations to immediately remove the saved connection, YouTube reports, video metadata, and campaign links from XPmetric. XPmetric then asks Google to revoke access. Disconnecting does not delete your videos or other data at YouTube. If Google has not confirmed revocation, a minimal encrypted revoke token and retry details can remain for up to seven days while cleanup retries; new YouTube connections are paused during that time. Cleanup keeps running if the feature is switched off.
You can also remove XPmetric under Google Account security permissions. If you do so, XPmetric suppresses the saved reports and removes confirmed revoked data promptly, within 30 days at the latest.
Google verification
Google verified XPmetric's access to youtube.readonly on October 24, 2026. Google's consent screen names XPmetric and lists the two read-only permissions above. The reports were checked against YouTube Studio for the same date ranges before launch.
