Cookieless tracking no longer uses browser storage

Use cookieless analytics without XPmetric placing a cookie or session ID on your visitors' devices. The tracking script used to keep a session ID in session storage. It no longer does.

In cookieless mode, the script does not use cookies, local storage, or session storage. Check the consent needs of your site as a whole.

Sessions are worked out on our side instead, as a 30-minute window of activity from the same daily visitor id. Two things about your numbers change slightly as a result:

• Someone with two tabs open on your site is now one session instead of two.
• A session ends after 30 idle minutes rather than when the tab is closed.

Most sites will see session counts shift a little as a result. Cookie mode still uses its first-party cookie.
